Meet Jot

Born & raised in Brampton

Jot Dhaliwal was born and raised in Brampton and has lived in the city throughout his life. He attended local Brampton schools before continuing his education through university and law studies. He holds BA, LLB and LLM credentials.

He is running for Peel District School Board Trustee for Brampton Wards 3 & 4. His campaign is focused on listening to students, families and educators and bringing their concerns to the school-board table.

A life of community service

Giving back to the place I call home.

I am one of the founders of the Guru Nanak Mission of Canada, a non-profit organization focused on charitable initiatives and community service. Since 2007, I have taken part in organizing and participating in community initiatives, including monthly neighbourhood clean-up days.

These volunteer activities have kept me connected to Brampton and taught me the value of working together, taking responsibility for shared spaces and building community pride.

What does a school trustee do?

Trustees bring community perspectives to board discussions, take part in setting policy and budget direction, and make decisions collectively. Day-to-day board management is handled by administration under the Director of Education or Chief Executive Officer, as applicable.

Why I’m running

Brampton is home.

I was born and raised here, went to school here and grew up in the same community I am now asking to represent.

Running for School Trustee is about making sure students, parents and educators in Wards 3 & 4 have an accessible local representative who listens to their concerns and brings those concerns to the board table.

Our schools shape the future of our community. I want to contribute to responsible decisions that keep student achievement, safety, opportunity and well-being at the centre of the conversation.
